THE  ERECHTHEION

The "cores" (archaic statues of young maidens) gracefully fulfil their function of support; they are dressed in long ionic tunics. Their heads are adorned with a round capital decorated with ovolo and spear heads. (But they are merely plastercast, the originals being protected from pollution in the Acropolis Museum or in … the British Museum).
