| In the classical period during
      the century of Pericles (Vth century B.C.), sculptures have more of an
      appearance of movement: here, we see a bronze statue of Poseidon where the
      god of the seas is almost certainly tossing his trident (this statue, two
      meters high was discovered in the sea). Few statues, made of bronze, have
      been found for they were often melted for the metal. |
